History:

The Opera House in Frankfurt, Germany, can trace its origins all the way back to 1678 when the city of Frankfurt was ruled by the House of Hesse-Kassel. In this year, the first opera performance in the city was staged, and it was a great success. In the early 18th century, a new opera house was built on the site of the current Frankfurt Opera House. This was a two-story building with boxes and private circles for the audience, as well as a stage. For the next century, the building underwent many changes, such as the addition of a gallery and a balcony, but it still retained its original shape. By the 19th century, Frankfurt was thriving again, and the opera house was renovated twice, in 1825 and 1880. The hall was enlarged and the stage was enlarged to accommodate a large orchestra. The gallery was also enlarged and equipped with additional boxes.
