ahti Church is a Lutheran church in Vesilahti, Finland. It was built in 1727 and is a standout among Finnish wooden churches in terms of its size and decoration. It has a tall tower, two-tier side galleries, and a painted barrel-vaulted ceiling in its interior. Its architecture and decoration, created by carpenter Michael Kämpe, is considered one of the greatest accomplishments of Finnish-style Baroque. It is a national monument and a popular tourist attraction. History of the Church: The original Vesilahti Church was built around the year 1300, but its exact age is unknown due to a lack of written records. It was likely a wooden structure that was destroyed in the Great Northern War (1700-1721). Construction of the current church began in 1727 and was consecrated in 1740. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Finland.
