River Oulu Church is a Lutheran church located at the West end of Oulu city, Finland. The church, built in the Gothic style of architecture, opened in 1879. The building is one of Finland’s largest and most impressive churches, and features impressive collections of historical artefacts and church documents, dating back to the 19th century. History:

River Oulu Church was built and funded by the mayor of Oulu, Lauri Heikinheimo, who was inspired to create the church by a visit to Norway. Heikinheimo designed the church, which was designed by local architect, Anders Homan, in the Gothic style of architecture. In 1876, the foundation was laid and the church was completed in 1879. The church was consecrated by Bishop Kaarle Muhonen on the 5th of October. River Oulu Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Finland.
