Luther Church, Helsinki is a Lutheran church in the centre of Helsinki, Finland. It is the largest church in the city and one of Helsinki’s most popular tourist sights. The church was built in 1928 by the Finnish architect Ilmari Launis, in the neo-Gothic style, and is named in honour of Martin Luther, the founder of the Lutheran tradition. It is one of the best churches in Finland which you must visit.

History:

Construction began in 1926 and the church was consecrated in 1928. It was funded by donations from more than 17,000 churchgoers, who each gave one mark to the project. The Lutheran Church of the Reformation was founded in Helsinki in 1656, but the city was not granted a proper church until the building of the modern Luther Church in 1928. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Finland.
