Kangasalan kirkko was built in 1691 by master builder Joseph Hintse and is the oldest wooden church still standing in Finland. The original structure was relatively small, with a single aisle and nine small windows. The building was reconstructed and extended in the 19th century. During World War I, the church was damaged and had to be restored. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Finland.
