History:

The FECF originated in the Finnish Awakening movement of the 19th century, a renewal which was marked by revivals of spiritual life. It was established in 1901 when the Awakening movement came to an organisational form and held its first assembly at Tampere. Its roots can be traced to the first Finnish Free Church, the Free Church of Lars Sonck in 1890, which was the first independent evangelical-free Church in Finland. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Finland.
