The Church of God in Fiji was first established in Natovi, Fiji in 1890. It was founded by missionaries from the United States and Canada and was brought from the same Holiness-Pentecostal movement that spread throughout the Pacific. In 1921, the General Assembly of the Church of God in Fiji was organized, after which the church experienced a period of growth and trust in the country. In the late 1970s and 1980s, the Church of God in Fiji was part of a movement that included other Pacific churches to form the World Council of Churches. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Fiji.
