History:
The Märjamaa Church is believed to have been built in the 13th century. There are many historical documents and texts that mention the building of the church. In 1341, King Magnus Eriksson of Sweden officially gave the Märjamaa district to the people of Läänemaa and thus the Märjamaa Church became part of the region's heritage. The church underwent a few renovations over the centuries which have adapted the building and its interior to the times. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Estonia.

The Märjamaa Church is a large building that can seat around 600 people. It has a tall bell tower and a baroque portico. The bell tower is 60 meters high and contains five bells, the oldest one dated to 1514. The church is decorated with a variety of murals, some of which date back to the late 15th century. The church is also home to one of Estonia’s oldest organs, from the 16th century.

The Märjama Church hosts regular services every Sunday and a number of special ceremonies throughout the year, including weddings and baptisms. The church also serves as a school and a seminar site for religious courses.
