Estonian Evangelical Brotherhood In Estonia: History,Facts, & Services

The Estonian Evangelical Brotherhood in Estonia (EEBE) is a grassroots Christian non-profit organization that works to promote Christian values. Founded in 1987, it is one of the oldest religious groups in the country. EEBE is inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ and seeks to bring His ministry, guidance, and love to people in Estonia and other countries. History The EEBE was founded in the 1988, shortly after the re-establishment of religious freedoms in Estonia. It was established by enthusiastic theologians, priests, and laypeople who sought to restore the traditions of Christian fellowship and service that had been absent under the rule of the Soviet Union. EEBE was modeled after the similar organizations that were found in other countries of the former Soviet Union. This included the Lutheran Church of Estonia, which had beforehand been a part of the Russian Orthodox Church. Today, the EEBE is a vital part of the Lutheran Church of Estonia and is one of its many associated organizations. Facts • EEBE has 50 member congregations that span all of Estonia. • EEBE runs a variety of programs that provide aid, assistance to the poor, and other charitable activities. • EEBE believes in the practices of Christian charity and stewardship of God’s word and resources. • EEBE also works to promote spiritual indivudual growth through prayer, study, and service. Services EEBE provides a variety of services both for its members and for the local Estonian community. These services include: • Livelihood support • Education programs • Free legal assistance • Mental health counseling • Spiritual training • Welfare programs • Family services • Community outreach • Assistance for those in need
