St Clement's Church, Leigh-on-Sea is an Anglican Episcopal Church located in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, in the United Kingdom. It is one of two churches in the United Benefice of Eastleigh, along with St Nicholas' Church, Eastwood. The church was built by the Victorian architect Edward Burgess in 1888 and is an example of Victorian architecture. The church is dedicated to St Clement, a saint from the 4th-century Christian Church, and is a Grade II* listed building. It is one of the best churches in England which you must visit.

History:

St Clement's Church was built in 1888, on the north-eastern part of Leigh-on-Sea. The original wooden Saxon Church, dedicated to St Mary, was built in the location in 1615 but has since been demolished. The architect for the current building was Edward Burgess, who was responsible for other important buildings in the area, such as the Leigh-on-Sea Congregational Church and the Southend Fire Station. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.

St Clement’s Church is a Grade II* listed building due to its architectural and historic importance. It has a lychgate that was erected in 1914, in memory of the fallen of the Leigh-on-Sea parish during the First World War. There are also two marble war memorials in the church, commemorating those who lost their lives during the two World Wars.
