Saint Mary's Church, Banbury is a Grade II listed parish church in the Church of England Diocese of Oxford, located in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. The church is located on the corner of North Bar Street and Cornhill in Banbury town centre. The church dates back to the 11th century and is built from Banbury stone with a 12th-century Norman west tower. The church is best known for its association with William Shakespeare, who is said to have worked as a schoolmaster in the area. It is one of the best churches in England which you must visit.

History:

Saint Mary's Church was first consecrated in 1086, although the main part of the building dates back to the 15th century. It was built at the expense of Richard Heyford, who resided in the nearby Castle Quarters. The church underwent several renovations in the 19th century, and significant restoration work was undertaken in 1902. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
