History:
Christchurch Church was founded in 1736, by two local men, John Hinxman and Richard Sweet. They were members of the Church of England and at the time, the parish of Christchurch was served by a non-conformist minister. This changed when parishes in the surrounding area merged in 1781 and the Church of England regained the parish of Christchurch. The church building was constructed the following year before being consecrated in 1786. Christchurch Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
