History:

The National Aquarium of Santo Domingo was founded in 1992 by Health and Welfare Minister Dr. Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi. It was the first public aquarium in the Dominican Republic, and its aim is to promote the preservation of marine and tropical species through public education and research. The Aquarium is part of El Malecón, a promenade along the seafront of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.
