The emerald-green lake has three parts, divided by the famed finger isthmus of the St. Bartholomä peninsula. With its crystal-clear waters, this mountain lake is often referred to as the "Bavarian Fjord". Along the west shore of the lake is the pier for the electric ferries that ply the lake, serving the many visitors to the region.
