Santa Francesca Romana a Ponte Rotto is an ancient church located in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome, Italy. It is dedicated to Saint Francesca Romana, a 13th century saint and mystic. The church is most notable for its incredible interior decorations, elaborately painted and gilded with Baroque and Rococo motifs, depicting the lives of St. Francis and St. Francesca. It also has an ornate ceiling and an impressive collection of works by Renaissance masters, such as Raphael and Titian, sculpted by Bernini. The church stands on a bridge, “Pont Rotto”, which translates to “Broken Bridge”. The bridge is connected to two ancient Roman aqueducts and is considered by some to be one of the oldest bridges in Rome.
