Oratorio di Gesù al Calvario e di Maria In Rome: History,Facts, & Services
Oratorio di Gesù al Calvario e di Maria is a historic church in Trapani, Italy. The church was built in 1615 by the Brother Knights of Christ to celebrate the "mysteries of the life and death of Jesus." Originally established as a space where members of the confraternity could pray and meditate on the Passion of Christ during Holy Week, the oratory is still used for those purposes today. It was later expanded to include surrounding shrines dedicated to Mary and several other saints. Inside, visitors can find a single nave, with several chapels along its sides, where events related to the passion of Jesus are depicted through sculptures and paintings. The oratory houses several liturgical books and manuscripts as well, making it an important historical site.
