The traditional worship at Valliyoorkkavu consists of rituals (poojas) performed by the local priest (Jaathi) on behalf of the devotees. The main worship is the Ashtabhishekam (eight fold worship) which includes Ganapathy homam, Ashta Devi pooja, Chandika homam, Rathasapthami, Navarathri poojas, Pradosham, Sankaranarayan pooja and Shivarathri pooja. These are performed in the presence of the royal family. The annual Vela (temple festival) is celebrated here with the utmost fanfare and splendour. Different cultural programs such as caparisoned elephant procession, fireworks, folk art performanes, cultural activities, etc. are conducted on the occasion of vela in front of Valliyoorkkavu.
