The worship practices of Thiruvaloor Mahadeva temple are based on traditional Shaivite beliefs, which involve chanting of the sacred Panchakshari (five-lettered) mantra of the deity, Nama Shivaya. Ritualistic offerings to the deity include the lighting of a lamp and offering flowers, fruits, Dhupa (incense) and Deepa (sweet food) as nivedyam, according to ritual convention. On special occasions, Mahabhishekam is done, followed by traditional archanas to the deity. Devotees of Lord Shiva perform 108 abhisheka poojas for the deity. Rudrabhisheka is the main offering here.
