Killikkurussi Mahadeva Temple is a Shiva Temple located in the Malappuram district of Kerala, India. It is one of the 108 revered Shiva temples of Kerala. It is believed that this temple was established by Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been built by the Pandyas of Madurai during their reign. The shrine is said to be 2000 years old. According to legend, Killikkurussi Mahadeva Temple was originally a shrine to Lord Shiva, but it was later taken over by Lord Vishnu and transformed into an abode of Lord Shiva. The inner shrine has an interesting iconography, with the main deity being Lord Shiva holding a trident. The worship at Killikkurussi Mahadeva Temple follows the Vaishnava tradition of Kerala. Unlike most temples in Kerala that follow the Shakti worship tradition, this temple practices Naishtika Brahmacharya, a system in which priestly rituals are done only on Thiruvonam and other festive days. At this temple, the puja rituals are done with the accompaniment of Panchavadyam, a type of music ensemble with five instruments.
