History:
The Church of St. James the Greater in Prague is thought to have been built as early as in the 12th century, making it one of the oldest churches in Prague. It was initially founded by Prague's Jewish citizens as a synagogue, and was later handed over to the Knights Templar military and religious order. In the late 14th century, the church was given to the Brothers of Mercy of St. Augustine. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.
