Worship Method:

The Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist temple located on the south-eastern side of Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. It is home to one of the largest and oldest Buddhist statues in the world - the Tian Tan Buddha. The main form of worship practiced at Po Lin Monastery follows the Mahayana tradition. This includes chanting of sutras (scriptures) and devotees practicing various meditation techniques such as Zhinay or Zazen (breath meditation). The two main deities of the temple are Amitabha and Guanyin. The chanting of sutras is led by the monks within the monastery. Prayers and prostrations are performed between each chant. During prayer, substances such as incense, rice, and fruits are offered as symbolic offerings. The worship of deities is also common. Worshippers bow to various statues of Buddha or Bodhisattva (Buddha or Bodhisattva statue can be found around the monastery) and recite various mantras. The Po Lin Monastery is located on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The easiest way to get there is to take the MTR metro system to Tung Chung Station. From here, you can catch the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. This will take you to Ngong Ping Village, which is a few minutes walk away from the Po Lin Monastery.
