is a Buddhist temple and nunnery located in Diamond Hill, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was built in 1934 by a nun named Ng Mui and is now managed by the Buddhist Association of Hong Kong. 1. Chi Lin Nunnery is a Buddhist temple located in the Diamond Hill area of Kowloon, Hong Kong. 2. The nunnery was established in 1934 by three nuns who came from Jiangsu Province, China. 3. The Chi Lin Nunnery is one of the few remaining pristine examples of traditional Chinese architecture in Hong Kong. 4. The temple complex consists of six halls, including the Hall of Seven Buddhas, the Great Enlightenment Hall and the Hall of Holy God. 5. The temple's spacious gardens are filled with scholar stones, ponds, bonsai trees and ponds filled with Koi and turtles. 6. Chi Lin Nunnery also serves as a popular tourist destination, offering guided tours and featuring traditional Chinese architecture. 7. The temple is home to over 600 gold statues, including the Buddhas Sakyamuni and Maitreya, Amitabha and a collection of historical figures. 8. The temple also features two large bronze Tian Tan (heavenly) Buddhas and a 5-story pagoda. 9. The nunnery hosts traditional Buddhist activities and meditation classes every week, open to members of the public. Worship Method:
Chi Lin Nunnery’s worship method is based on traditional Chinese Buddhist customs. The main form of worship at the nunnery is the daily chanting of mantras and prayers. The nuns also offer food and incense to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas during their spiritual practice. During special seasonal festivities, such as Buddhist birthdays and events, the nuns will perform more elaborate rites. Worship is also performed periodically throughout the day, with the nuns gathering to chant mantras and prayers in a courtyard.
