Wat Ounalom Cambodia is a Buddhist monastery located in the heart of the capital Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was built in 1443 by King Ponhea Yat, the then King of Cambodia in order to house the first thousand Buddhist monks. It is the most important compound of the Mohanikay order in Cambodia and the most important pagoda in the capital Phnom Penh. History:

This pagoda, also known as Ounalom pagoda, was initially built by King Ponhea Yat, the then King of Cambodia, in 141 to house 1000 Buddhist monks from all over the kingdom. After Ponhea Yat, the pagoda was rebuilt by King Ang Duong, the then king of Cambodia in 1809. During the Khmer Rouge era, Wat Ounalom was destroyed along with many of the other monasteries in the city of Phnom Penh.
