Pre Rup - Siem Reap In Cambodia: Histroy,Facts,Worship Method,Opening Timing & How to reach

History:

Pre Rup temple is one of Siem Reap’s most photographed temples. Built in the 10th century by King Rajendravarman II, the temple is thought to be named Pre Rup after the hill, Ruprey, it was built on. The temple looks like it should have been built for royalty and it was thought that it was intended for the use of the king himself. Pre Rup is known for its impressive surrounding walls and terrace and archaeologists believe that it was originally built to be the state temple of the king. The temple is unique because it’s a large sandstone structure with a central sanctuary surrounded by four smaller ones, with galleries connecting each. It is thought that the exterior galleries were designed so that people could pass through the temple without actually entering it, thus avoiding the ‘hindrance’ of having to remove their shoes and prayer caps in order to be allowed in. Above all other qualities, Pre Rup temple stands for beauty. When visitors come to this temple, they are sure to be struck by the vibrant colors of the sandstone which the temple is made from, as well as the intricate carving and sculpture which are seen all around it. It is one of the best temple in Cambodia which you must visit.
