Inhotim is an open-air contemporary art museum in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It was founded by Bernardo Paz and opened to the public in 2006. Inhotim is a center for the conservation and display of modern and contemporary art set within a 500-acre botanical gardens. The history of Inhotim, Brumadinho dates back to the 1960s and 1970s when Bernardo Paz, a businessman and prominent figure in the municipality of Brumadinho, began collecting plants and art. It was during this time that he met some of the most notable figures of the twentieth century art world, including Mario Pedrosa, João Candido Portinari, Lygia Clark, and Helio Oiticica.
