The Tsholofelong Catholic Church was founded when a missionary from the Society of Jesus (also known as the Jesuits) arrived at the village in 1892. A mission station was set up, which served as a chapel and school. The mission received the blessing of Archbishop Pacelli (the future Pope Pius XII) in 1934. In 1961 the church was officially dedicated and its bells were rung for the first time. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Botswana.
