The ministry began in May 1985 in the Los Angeles area, where Bishop and Sister Jefferson began a church called Ebenezer Global Spiritual Center on the South Central side of Los Angeles. This became a success and people from all walks of life began to attend the church. Bishop Jefferson then founded the Heavenly International Souls Church in the same year. Since then, the church has grown to have affiliate churches around the US, as well as in Mexico and the Caribbean.
