Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) is a worldwide Pentecostal Christian denomination that was founded in 1897 by Charles Price Jones and Charles Harrison Mason in Arkansas, United States. COGIC traces its beginnings to the Christian Holiness Association, which was founded by Jones on October 5, 1897, in Jackson, Mississippi. Over time, the Association developed into a denomination and changed its name to Church Of God In Christ following a merger of the Church Of God and the Pentecostal Assemblies Of The World in 1907. Jones became the first Presiding Bishop of the Church Of God In Christ. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Botswana.
