History:

Laguna Verde, meaning “Green Lagoon” in Spanish, is a natural wonder located in the province of José Miguel De Velasco in northern Bolivia. It is situated in the Altiplano region of the country, at an elevation of 4,320 meters (14,173 feet) above sea level and is part of the larger Apolobamba mountain range. This site is renowned for its remarkable emerald green hue and is associated with spiritual and spiritual-cultural importance within the local area. The origins of Laguna Verde are contested, with the first accounts from indigenous tribes and colonial-era documents suggesting different events to explain its origin.
