Bartsham Monastery, also known as Bum-Thing, is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery belonging to the Drukpa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The monks of the monastery practice the traditional and strict monastic life of Buddhism. The primary practice of the monks is to maintain monastic discipline and do Dharma practices. The primary worship practices at the Bartsham Monastery employ chanting, meditation and reciting mantras. The chanting of mantras are conducted either alone or as a group. There is a strong emphasis on purity, generating compassion, and enlightenment practice. The monks also engage in puja, or prayer, to obtain and invoke worldly and spiritual realizations and merit.
