Holy Redeemer Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belize City-Belmopan and is the largest parish church in Belize. The Church is part of the Roman Catholic Church in Belize and its central mission is the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Built in 1873, it is the oldest surviving Catholic building in Belize and features stained glass windows, stone arches and carved wooden altars. The Cathedral was built in a classic Victorian style with a mix of Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque design elements. Today, Holy Redeemer Cathedral continues to be an important spiritual and cultural center for the Catholic community in Belize. The Cathedral operates several youth ministries, a school and an active parish office. Services include Mass, Confessions, Liturgy of the Hours, reciting the Holy Rosary, Vespers and Benediction.
