Holy Cross Anglican Church is part of the Anglican communion and is the oldest Anglican church in Central America. It was established in 1861 by the first Anglican Bishop of Belize, the Most Rev. Reynold Clare Osmund, who had arrived in Belize in 1858. Bishop Osmund initially met with members of the Episcopal Church in the United States for assistance in establishing an Anglican Church in Belize City. The church was completed in 1862 and remains one of the earliest architectural examples of British colonial architecture in Belize City. It has been a focal point for the people of Belize City and has welcomed thousands of visitors and worshippers from all over the world. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belize.
