Cinquantenaire is a large public park located in the eastern part of Brussels, Belgium. It is bordered by four busy traffic arteries: Rue de la Loi, Boulevard du Jubile, Boulevard Pacheco, and Rue de Nimy. Cinquantenaire was first commissioned by King Leopold II in 1880 to commemorate Belgium's 50th anniversary of independence. The massive 250-acre park is filled with lush gardens, lawns, ponds, and fountains. History:

The Cinquantenaire (or Jubelpark) in Brussels, Belgium dates back to 1880, when it was part of a larger project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Belgium's independence. The original plan was commissioned by King Leopold II, and was designed by the infamous architect George Hobé. It consisted of a grand avenue surrounded by a large complex of buildings, including a museum, a palace and an immense green park. The first part of the avenue was built in 1888, but the rest of the complex, including the palace, museum and park, were built in the years between 1896 and 1905. At the centre of the complex is the triumphal arch, the Arc de Triomphe du Cinquantenaire, which was completed in 1905.
