Cathédrale des Saints Archanges Michel et Gabriel In Belgium is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Brussels, Belgium. It is the principal church of the Archdiocese of Brussels-Mechelen. Construction of the cathedral began in 1690 and is built in the Baroque style. It was completed in 1750. Its exterior is made up of red brick and is topped with medals, vases and statues. History:

The Cathedral of the Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel was founded in 1690 on the site of a monastery. The monastery was a large, two-aisle church, and the main body of the cathedral was constructed in Baroque style. The towers and dome were added in the 18th century. In 1802, Napoleon abolished the archdiocese and the cathedral was converted into a military depot. In 1830, after the French reclaimed the building, the archdiocese was restored and the cathedral was returned to its original purpose. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belgium.
