The church was established in 1648, when Peter I brought the original icon of Our Lady of Tenderness to St. Petersburg. The church was reconstructed in neo-Gothic style in 1883, and soon the church came to be known as one of the most beautiful churches in the city. During the Soviet era, the church was closed and the building was used as a storage space. In 1996, it was returned to the Orthodox Church and restoration work began, with the grand opening of the church taking place in 2002. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belarus.
