Chapel of Zaslaŭski In Belarus: History,Facts, & Services
Chapel of Zaslaŭski is a Catholic chapel in the city of Minsk, Belarus, home to the Haller family of Poland. The chapel was erected in 1645 and consecrated in 1660. It is dedicated to Saint Stanislaus Kostka and St. Casimir. The chapel is located in a park just off of Zaslaŭski Street. Inside the chapel is a 17th century iconostasis, a painting of Saints Peter and Paul, and other treasures. The chapel became a place of pilgrimage for members of the Haller family who had fought in the Battle of Mława. It was also a place of refuge during the Nazi occupation and World War II. During the Soviet occupation of Belarus, the chapel was closed and its contents dispersed but locals and some members of the Haller family managed to preserve some of the items. The chapel was reopened in 1997 and is still used for religious services today.
