Belaya Tserkov' was first mentioned in written records in 1154 as a settlement belonging to the Major Archbishopric of Kiev. In 1672, it was granted the status of a city. Throughout much of the 18th century, it was the main centre of the Belaya Tserkov Skytimes. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belarus.
