History:
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Barbados has a long history of providing for spiritual needs of Catholics in the area. The earliest known date for the Church’s foundation is 1842, when the first permanent building was erected. The present Parish Hall was constructed in 1889 and the first service was held on April 1 of that year. The original parishioners came mainly from the different islands of the Caribbean, including St. Vincent, Dominica, Grenada and Antigua.
