According to one source, the church's earliest beginnings can be traced to the late 1890s when some members of the black community began meeting in various places to study the Bible and wait on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. After a few years, these members united to form the Pentecostal Church of The Living God in Bridgetown, Barbados. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Barbados.
