Hope Church Ranch is a historic plantation in St. Lucy Parish, Barbados. It was originally owned by the grandfather of Sir Henry Francis Hope, the owner of the Hope Estate in England. The plantation was subsequently owned by several members of the Hope family.The property includes three large buildings, known as 'Great Opportunity', 'The Cliftons' and 'The Big House'. There is also a smaller building known as 'The Little House'. The grounds include two large ponds and a variety of old sugar machinery, such as a hydraulic mill, horse mills, two furnaces for boiling sugar syrup, an extensive sugar pasture, and a number of other artifacts.The property is now owned by the Hope Church Ranch Preservation Company, which is dedicated to preserving the site and its history. The company offers several services, including tours, educational programs, and special events. The company also hosts a number of festivals, such as the annual August Craft Festival, which celebrates traditional Barbadian crafts. Visitors can learn about the history of the Hope family, the plantation, its machinery, and the people who worked on the site.
