The Barbados Concorde Experience is a unique and popular tourist attraction located in Christ Church, Barbados. It is the longest serving of any Concorde in the world, and offers visitors a chance to view the supersonic aircraft and learn about its history. The Concorde was developed as a joint venture between the French and British aircraft companies. Construction of the first prototype began in 1967 and was completed in 1969. The Concorde began commercial service in 1976 with a flight between London and Bahrain. In 1983, a Barbados based airline known as EDF, purchased a Concorde from British Airways. EDF operated it from Barbados for over a decade, until it was retired in 1994.
