The Anglican Diocese of Barbados is a self-governing Anglican Church within the Province of the West Indies. The diocese was founded in 1825 and comprises almost the entire island of Barbados. The diocese is guided by episcopal, pastoral and missionary principles, and is determined to make the church’s presence better known through active evangelism and discipleship. The diocese is committed to helping its people grow in faith, knowledge and service of God in an ever-changing world. The current bishop is Dr. John Holder. History:

After gaining independence from the British colonial government in 1966, the Church of England in Barbados was reconstituted and named the Anglican Diocese of Barbados. Bishop Carlton E. Singham guided the diocese during its formative years, setting an example through the various ministries established. In 2000 the diocese's first black Bishop was appointed. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Barbados.
