: The Shibganj Jame Mosque, located in Shibganj Upazila, Bogra District is an ancient mosque complex complex of Bengal. Built during the Mughal period, the mosque wasoriginally known as Jamal Khan Mosque, after its founder, Jamal Khan, a Mughal nobleman of the eighteenth century. The mosque is a blend of Sufism, Indo-Islamic and traditional Bengali architecture. The mosque was built with lime, brick and plaster. It stands on a raised platform. The magnificently-ornamented adja – a high mound – is encircled by a wall, in four semicircular bastions, with 15 feet high towers. Inside the complex there are four corner buildings in four different directions. The central prayer hall has four entrance portals. The inner walls of the mosque are richly painted in various motifs and images. The ceiling of the mosque is decorated with painted stars and moons. It has ten mihrabs, with intricate inlay decorations. The Mosque is located in Shibganj, in the upazila (sub-district) of Bogra district, near the Indian border. It is one of the most important historical sites in Bangladesh, and was built in the 15th century by Sultan Hussain Shah, who was the last Sultan of Bengal. Getting to the Mosque is easy as it is conveniently located near the Bogura–Rangpur highway, and can be reached by bus, train or car. The nearest airport is Dhaka International Airport, from where you can take a bus or train to reach the mosque. If coming by train, the nearest station is Rajarbag Railway Station in Bogura.
