Architecture:
The Shaki Jama Mosque is an 18th-century religious building located in Shaki, Azerbaijan. This remarkable mosque is well known for its two minarets located at both the east and west sides of the mosque. The main entrance of the mosque is at the south side and is framed with an impressive portal of red brick. The mosque features a large domed chamber and is surrounded by a horseshoe arcaded gallery. It is a single aisle and covered with eight rows of arches along with two aisle extending further inside the mosque. In comparison to other mosques from the same period, this mosque is unique due to its two minarets and large long arcades. The walls of the mosque are also decorated with intricate carvings while the inner walls are adorned with small arches. The mosque has also recently undergone a massive restoration project which lasted from 2006 to 2011. The restoration included the preservation of its two minarets, the brick portal, and the inner walls. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
