Sisters Servants of the Sacred Heart In Argentina: History,Facts, & Services

Sisters Servants of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic religious order primarily devoted to caring for and educating children. Founded in 1947 by Mother Mary René Sohet, the order currently has more than 2,500 members in fifty countries around the world. It is based in Rome, Italy. The Sisters Servants of the Sacred Heart began as a response to the devastation left in post-World War II Europe. Mother Mary René Sohet saw a need for educating and caring for children and began ministering in abandoned homes, shelters and care centers. The sisters quickly grew in numbers and began working in orphanages and schools as well. The sisters are involved in a variety of social activities, including ministering to the marginalized and homeless. In addition, the sisters minister through hospitals, hospices, retreats, prisons and other institutions. The founding sister shared a common message of love and mercy, aiming to bring attention and understanding to the suffering of those in need. Today, Sisters Servants of the Sacred Heart continue to follow the same message of compassion and commitment to those in need.
