The monumental work is located in Cabildo y Paraguay streets in the heart of the capital of Argentina. Héctor Rocha was the sculptor responsible for the bronze work that is 8 meters high, guarded by four allegorical figures representing Justice, Freedom, Fatherland and Victory. At its feet are six bronze tigers aimed at holding the shield of the Republic of Argentina and in one corner, a figure of the little girl, a tribute to Pueyrredon's daughter. The monument was financed by public funds and donations amounting to 48,000 pesos. The main donor was the stock exchange and on the side there is an inscription that states the intent of the citizens to honour the memory of the most popular governor of Buenos Aires. Incorporated since the end of 1913, the monument symbolized the spirit of the epoch of its construction, but with the passing of the years, its importance increased as homage to the country's struggles. Honored for his patriotism and heroism, he was appointed president of the Supreme Director of the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata in 1811. He devoted his years in office to promote the cultural, political and economic progress of the newly created country. He modernized the education system by creating the University of Buenos Aires and the National Public Library and the national currency. Pueyrredon was an innovator in his times and a role model for later statesmen. He died in Buenos Aires in 1850 and his remains rest in the La Recoleta Cemetery.
