The temple is one of the Shakti Peeths, which are dedicated to the Hindu mother goddess, and is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. The temple has a big chariot which carries a marble representation of Ma Jwala mata. It is said that this chariot is carried on certain special days and festivals by the devotees. The temple has many ancient rituals and customs that are followed during the worship of Ma Jwala.
