Brief History:
Relizane Mosque is an ancient mosque located in Relizane, Algeria. According to oral traditions, the mosque dates back to the reign of Sultan Abu Yusuf Yaqub Al-Mansur (1160–1184). Relizane Mosque is believed to be the second oldest mosque in Algeria, following the Great Mosque of Constantine. The mosque has several features of the vizier style—an architectural style of the Fatimid period or typical of the twelfth century, when the mosque was first built. The mosque underwent a major renovation and expansion in the 17th century. It is one of the most famous mosque in Algeria which you must visit.

The Relizane Mosque is an ancient mosque located in the old city of Relizane in Algeria. Built during the Fatimid period, the mosque remains one of the most impressive examples of Islamic architecture in Algeria. The mosque is built in a traditional Islamic style, featuring a prayer hall flanked by two giant minarets and a prominent dome set atop the central prayer chamber. The exterior of the mosque is decorated with intricate brickwork, with whitewashed surfaces and colorful tiles that adorn the facade. The inside of the building is beautifully adorned with elaborate calligraphy of verses, stucco designs, and colorful tiles from the Islamic period. The two minarets are an impressive sight, with the first one being built over a century ago. The interior of the mosque also hosts some of the oldest copies of Quran. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
