The mosque contains three large pillars which signify the three main schools of Islam (Hanafi, Maliki, and Shafi). The central nave of the mosque is surrounded by four semicircular arches and has four corner rooms, which serve as prayer chambers for different denominations of Islam. The roof of the mosque is covered in terracotta tiles and there is a minaret at the northeast corner. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The mosque was built in the year 888 by the Aghlabid dynasty. The best way to reach the Béchar Mosque is by taxi or public transport. The closest airport is Houari Boumediene Airport located in Algiers which is about 600km away. Buses and trains can also be taken from Algiers to reach Béchar.
