History:

St. Michaels Church was founded on 12 August 1747 by a group of nuns from the Presentation Order (now the Sisters of Presentation). The original building suffered damage from local political unrest but was eventually rebuilt in 1819 and a new extension was added in 1847. The church was then partially destroyed in 1921 during the Irish War of Independence. This led to a rebuilding of the church in 1926. The new church was built in the Romanesque Revival style with a large portico of three bays at the entrance. St. Michael's Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Albania.
